There are a variety of volunteer opportunities at the East Central Newcomer Welcome Centre Inc. Take a few minutes to browse through the areas listed below and learn about the different ways you can offer your time and skills. You will be able to check off the area of interest on the application form.
Community Connections
- Out N’ About – Exploring Our Community (assist with visits to community facilities/events)
- Connect Program (individual matching/mentorship to help newcomers settle in our community)
- Special Event Volunteer (ex. Festival of Cultures, holiday events, theme or activity nights)
Newcomer Support & Services
- Translator / Interpreter
- English Language Tutor
- Computer Skills Tutor
Programming
- Workshop or event facilitation (e.g. run a paint night, teach a sport, provide tour of community location, teach a skill)
Settlement Worker in Schools (SWIS)

Board of Director
- Exercise leadership skills by participating in the governance and strategic decision-making processes of the organization.⃝

In order to protect our clients’ privacy and rights, and to ensure that those helping them are equipped to provide the best support possible, ECNWCI has a formal process through which we screen our volunteers.

Step 2: Complete your forms
Step 3: Submit completed forms to us
You can do this through email to ecnwcinfo@ecnwc.ca, mail or drop them off in person.
After you submit your completed forms, a member of our staff will be in contact with you to discuss your application.
Step 4: Criminal Record Check
Please wait until you hear back from us regarding your application form before submitting your criminal record check.
Criminal Record Checks must be dated within six months of application submission and can be obtained by visiting your local RCMP detachment.
