About Us

East Central Newcomer Welcome Centre Inc. (ECNWCI) was founded in the fall of 2017, and officially started its work on January 1, 2018. It is the successor to Partners In Settlement and Integration (PSI), which had been in operation in Yorkton since 2007 and which was operated by the Yorkton branch of the SaskAbilities, formerly the Saskatchewan Abilities Council.

In July of 2017, SaskAbilities reached a decision to change their mandate, under which PSI did not fit. This resulted in the creation of a new settlement service provider for the region, the East Central Newcomer Welcome Centre Inc.

Recognizing the continued need for services for newcomers, immigrants and refugees in the region, the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) decided to support the services offered by ECNWCI, which is a non-profit organization which officially opened on January 1, 2018.

The East Central Newcomer Welcome Centre Inc. is governed by a board of directors, members of which are elected at annual general meetings held on the month of June each year. ECNWCI is continuously recruiting members.
